POLYMERIC STRUCTURAL SUPPORT MEMBRANE

In excavations, such as mines, supports are needed to prevent rock falls. Structural beams provide the main support in the excavation to prevent major rock falls. However, between the main beams, minor rock falls can still occur. To provide structural support between the main beams, a polymeric structural support membrane can be applied. The membrane includes a polymer that is the reaction product of monomer, an initiator, and optionally a crosslinking agent; and a self-extinguishing agent. The membrane can be applied by spraying, brushing, or rolling.
