An improvement to scissors which comprises a guard adapted to be mounted to the handle of one blade of a pair of scissors and having an edge adapted to be co-extensive with the one blade but located to the opposite side of the blade from the cutting edge of the one blade, the guard further comprising a wall extending from said edge to define a recess extending from the edge, said recess being adapted to accommodate the other blade of the pair scissors throughout the full range of movement of said other blade, said edge being substantially parallel to the cutting edge and extending for, at most, the length of the cutting edge.
