A writing implement wherein an ink fountain member with a narrow groove width and a large diameter can be formed and there is room to form a large air groove, ensuring sufficient change of air between the ink fountain member and the outside air. In an ink fountain member (12), a plurality of notches (32) in a thin sheet member (16) are formed to extend with a length of at least 1/2 of the radius (R) and at right angles with the centerline (16a) of the thin sheet member (16) (A>/=(R/2), B>/=(R/2)) and one end of each notch (32) is positioned in the outer peripheral edge.
