A system for tissue spectroscopy or optical biopsy is disclosed which includes improved probe sheaths and probe tips for use with interventional devices. In particular, probe sheaths and probe tips are disclosed which are adapted to particular tissue spectroscopy or optical biopsy applications within the body, and which are wholly or partly disposable, and which are wholly or partly interchangeable.
