An automotive engine valve has a stem and a hollow valve head and valve cone, in which the ratio of the wall thickness to cone thickness is less than 1:3. The valve head (4) has an internal support to the stem at approx. mid-radius. The valve cone (3) and stem (2) are made as two different components, joined together. The upper edge of the valve cone is fixed to the stem.
