<p>The operator is prompted by pattern information (screens), inputs data about product finishes and workpiece profile coordinates and a processor activates the relevant control programs and controls the machine tool. The machine tool comprises a controller with a CPU, a control panel 14, and an associated storage unit (memory) 12, which contains a public data area 22 for storing, temporarily, data input from the control panel, and a program data area 24, which stores finishing programs. A profile path editor, is located in the CPU, and converts workpiece coordinates into an actual workpiece profile path, and a path program. A pattern interface unit, is connected to the CPU, and transmits pattern signals generated by the CPU to the operator at the control panel, so as to guide the operator to enter required data about product finishes and workpiece profile coordinates, the entered data actuating the controller to actuate one of the finishing programs, to regulate the finishing operation by the machine tool.</p> |
