aeronautical engineering; designing of catapults for aircraft carriers. SUBSTANCE: catapult may be provided with temporary thrust device for imparting large acceleration to mobile mass. Device includes guidance unit, sleds for sliding over guidance unit, motor for imparting acceleration to sleds in way of acceleration of mobile mass and units for temporary rigid fastening of mobile mass with sleds during their acceleration. Provision is also made for unit braking the sleds at the end of acceleration of mobile mass and breaking joint between sleds and mobile mass. Mobile mass consists of flexible interconnected components which are movable relative to one another under action of thrust. Temporary thrust device includes thrust modulation unit for bringing the components of mobile mass at rest relative to other components or to state close to this state. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of protection of front landing gear at disconnection of front landing gear from catapult hook. 19 cl, 10 dwg
