The invention concerns a drum braking and stopping device characterised in that it consists of a couple of mutually hinged parts, whereof one (10) forms a hook (10a) to co-operate with the catch (9d1) of a projection (9d) of the component (9) when the latter, under the effect of the centrifugal force, stays in high position when the material strip overlapping beneath the apparatus is pulled hard with the hands, the other part forming a lever (13) at the top of which one arm (8b) of the roll stand (8) which is associated with said lever to be tilted when said lever is moved and thereby provide the pressure of the roll on the drum, simultaneously with the gradual braking, stopping and return of the drum by the action of the device (D). |
