A single-stage oxidation dyeing method for keratin fibers involves treating the fibers, at 30 deg C or more, with a dyeing composition of pH at least 8 obtained by mixing compositions (a) and (b) immediately before use. (a) comprises a dyeing medium containing a 4-substituted 1-naphthol derivative (I). (b) comprises a dyeing medium containing an oxidant.
