The mandrel (10) has a cylindrical body (20), jaws (18) and a drive disc (60), which moves axially. This disc has a threaded circumference (62), which engages with the internally threaded sleeve (14). The sleeve can turn and a relative displacement between the sleeve and disc moves the latter axially in relation to the body. The disc has slots (66) with which a part (68) of each jaw co-operates so that the jaws (18) are fixed axially, but can move radially.
