A method for preparing the potassium octatitanate in the form of particles, characterized in that it comprises a first step of mixing a titanium compound which is converted to a titanium oxide by heating and a potassium compound which is converted to a potassium oxide by heating in a proportion of TiO2/K2O = 0.85 to 2.0 in terms of a mole ratio of such oxides and burning the resultant mixture at 700 to 940 DEG C, to thereby give potassium dititanate, a second step of treating the potassium dititanate from the first step with water and burning the treated product at 650 to 940 DEG C, and a third step of dispersing the burned product from the second step in water and neutralizing the resultant dispersion to have a pH of 6 to 8 by adding an acid, and then burning the treated product at 200 to 800 DEG C. |
