Apparatus for containing or binding meat products (not shown) with elasticated netting (not shown) comprises a spreader (10, 22) over which the leading end of a continuous sleeve of netting as directly produced by a knitting machine is drawn to a position where it may be engaged by an array of fingers (24) which will draw it along a tube (16). When the leading end of the tube (16) is surrounded by the net the net is clamped (28) and the tube (16) withdrawn so that a meat product inserted in to the tube is contacted by the net. The sleeve of net is cut off behind the meat product and the process repeated.
