In a system with a temporary heart lead (50) and an external connection device (1) for same, the temporary heart lead (50) has a distal end-region with at least one distal electrode and a proximal end-region (52) with at least one proximal electrode (56, 58) and a severable surgical needle, not set up as an electrode. A respective distal electrode is connected in electrically conductive manner to a respective proximal electrode (56, 58). The connection device has a housing (4, 8) with an entry aperture (10) and a needle exit aperture (12) and a needle-severing device (18, 19). There are arranged in the inside (20) of the housing (4, 8) rapid-action contacts (28, 29), assigned to respective proximal electrodes (56, 58) of the temporary heart lead (50), which can be connected via at least one cable (40, 42) to an external pacemaker.
