The invention relates to a measuring device for contactlessly detecting a path (c). The inventive device consists of a two-piece (14, 15) base plate (11), a side plate (16) and a moveable component (12) which is provided with a support plate (25) that is guided through a slot (26) in the side plate (16). A permanent magnet (28) which is smaller than the path (c) is arranged on one end (27) of the support plate (25). The magnet (28) can comprise one or several components. The arrangement of the magnet (28) allows the production of several sections, e.g. plateaus, in the measuring curve that is detected by the measuring device or sections that deviate from the linear measuring line.
