A collar (10) having a variable circumference for walking and training a domestic animal. In one embodiment, the collar (10) comprises a strap portion (12) and a first (32) and second (34) coupler bein g attached to opposing ends (14, 16) of the strap portion (12). A reducer assembly (18) having a first end (20) being movably attached to the first coupler (32) and a second end (26) being connected to the second coupler (34) such that the reducer assembly (18) remains connected to the strap portion (12). The collar (10) further comprises a trainer fastener (36) attached to the reducer assembly (18) and a walker fastener (40) attached to the strap portion (12). The trainer fastener (36) is arranged and configured to receive a leash such that the circumferen ce of the collar is variable. The walker fastener (40) is arranged and configured to receive a leash such that the circumference of the collar (10) is fixed.
