The invention relates to an electric rudder propeller for a high-speed marin e ship, comprising a multi-phase electric motor which is mounted in a gondola- shaped housing beneath the stern of the ship, using a rotatable, preferably two-part shaft. Said motor can be supplied with electric drive energy by mea ns of a slip ring assembly and can be rotated using drive motors. The rudder propeller is mounted in close proximity to the outer hull (6) in the stern o f the ship, in particular, above the water line, using a flat ring bearing (7) . The slip ring assembly (8) is located in the upper section (3) of the shaft (2, 3) at the level of the ring-shaped bearing (7) and the drive motors for the rotational movement (9) are low in design and are located at least partially in the interior of the ring bearing (7).
