The present invention comprises fuel cells (100), porous material for use therein (106) and methods of making the same. In a preferred embodiment, the porous material is an etch and anodization processed silicon-based electrode. The present invention also comprises methods for embossing and molding materials. The present invention further comprises a combinatorial procedure for expeditiously testing designs.
