The driving stability and/or traction regulation method uses individual braking of the automobile wheels upon activation of a driving stability and/or traction regulation phase, initiated when an instability or drive slip threshold is reached. The latter threshold is increased from the normal driving threshold level when driving on a road surface with different friction coefficients for the wheels on opposite sides of the vehicle.
