The invention provides a small-sized thin device, which comprises a case capable of detachable insertion into a PCMCIA TYPE-II card slot; a cartridge holder which carries a disk cartridge containing a flexible magnetic disk between loading and unloading positions; a magnetic head for reading from and writing to the magnetic disk; a head carriage for moving the head in radial directions of the magnetic disk; a spindle motor for driving the magnetic disk; and terminals provided toward the peripheries of the case and connected electrically with the terminals on the PC card slot.
