The generator/motor system has at least 2 galvanically-separated multi-phase winding systems (1,2) and associated multi-phase current rectifier bridge circuits, used for rectification in the generator operating mode and for DC/AC voltage conversion in the motor operating mode, which are controlled to provide series-parallel switching of the winding systems.
