The invention relates to a method for producing plastic parts having an impressed structure, in particular, for producing so-called 3-D-MID (3-D molded interconnect devices), tridimensionally injection molded circuit supports. The invention is characterized in that both the injection process as well as an embossing process for transferring the desired structure to the plastic part that is injection molded beforehand are carried out inside an injection molding machine. The embossing process is preferably carried out at the same time as the injection molding. To this end, at least one embossing station is provided between the tool clamping plates (1, 2) of an injection molding machine. Said embossing station comprises an embossing piston (14) which can be equipped with embossing tools (19) and which can move between the tool clamping plates. The embossing station also comprises a supply of embossed sheet (21). In a preferred embodiment, the embossing piston (14) can pass through the tool clamping plate (1) assigned thereto so that a larger embossing stroke can be set. This results in the provision of a clearance (16) on the embossing station that permits additional work steps to be executed parallel to the injection process.
