The fuel injection valve has a hollow valve body (9), a valve seat (1) with an injection nozzle (10) in one end of the valve body, a valve closure part (12) and a vortex generator (13) with grooves arranged around the valve closure part. The valve closure part has an outer straight section or an outer cylindrical section that opposes outlets of the vortex generator grooves over a length not less than 1/3 of the groove depth when the valve is fully closed.
