<p>The expansion of an injection tube for pressurized feed of fuel connected to a fuel injection nozzle is detected by a tube expansion sensor. In a resulting tube expansion signal (c) a peak part exceeding a slice level (S) is extracted by a window so as to eliminate noise. The position of the peak value (P) is detected by dividing the basic period of an engine rotation signal (a) into 20 equal sub-periods. The actual timing of fuel injection is calculated as the phase angle (&thetas;4) from the zero-crossing point of the TDC signal, which is generated after the peak value (P), and the peak value (P). <IMAGE></p> |
