PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a method for manufacturing the same are to easily form a contact hole by providing a double film consisting of a semiconductor layer and a transparent conductive film on a portion on which the contact hole is formed. CONSTITUTION: A conductive film made of a transparent conductive material is formed on a storage capacitor region of a substrate. A semiconductor layer is formed under a data line(119) to electrically contact with the data line, with the semiconductor layer being overlapped over a portion of the conductive film. A common electrode line is formed on a pixel region in a same direction as gate lines. A black matrix layer(121) is formed on the gate lines and data lines to shield a light. A pixel electrode(124) is formed on the pixel region, and is overlapped over the conductive film to electrically contact with the semiconductor layer.
