PURPOSE: A position verification IC card and a computer protection apparatus using the same are provided to enhance a security of a computer system by protecting a computer digital information and letting a user having a right access a digital information. CONSTITUTION: A position verification IC card includes a CPU(21), an input and output unit(22), a RAM(23), a ROM(24), a data memory(25) and a bus(26). The input and output unit(22) controls a position verification IC card a data input and output of an external device. The RAM(23) temporarily stores a data needed for a computation or operation performed by the CPU(21). The ROM(24) stores a program used for driving the CPU(21). A user's ID, ID code table, encryption algorithm and universal use data are stored in the data memory(25). As the data memory(25), an EEPROM(Electrically Erasable and Programmable Memory) is used. The inner bus(26) is capable of connecting each element of a position verification IC card. A timer(27) measures a difference between the user's ID input time and the user's password input time. The position verification IC card(20) is formed in one chip structure in which the data memory(25) is fabricated in one chip together with other elements.
