PURPOSE: A system and a method for selecting various functions of a pager using a jog/shuttle are provided so that a user easily confirm and select all sorts of functions and mode setup of a pager through an LCD using a jog/shuttle switch connected relatedly with graphic icons and texts. CONSTITUTION: If a user pushes a read button or operates a jog/shuttle with one among REV/FOR/MODE in case that a pager is in a power saving mode(S1), the display screen of an LCD is set up as a standby mode(S2). If the user operates the jog/shuttle with one among REV/FOR/MODE and inputs a key(S3), an MCU discriminates through which switch the input signal was inputted. If the user carries out a FOR(down) operation, a third input signal is generated from a third switch and supplied to the MCU. If the user carries out a REV(up) operation, an old message is read out of personal messages(S6). If the user carries out a MODE(push) operation, the MCU discriminates whether an input signal from a first switch lasts more than 2 seconds(S7). In case that the input signal lasts more than 2 seconds, the MCU makes a back light for the LCD operated(S8). |
