METHOD FOR SELECTIVELY RECORDING DIGITAL DATA STREAM

PURPOSE: A selective recording method of a digital datastream selects only a datastream having the requested attribute, and records it on an optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION: A method for recording an input digital stream on a recording medium comprises the steps of: identifying a selective recording request in accordance with an attribute of the input digital stream; and extracting and recording the datastream having the selected attribute from the input digital stream. The step further comprises recording an information about the attribute of the selected and recorded digital stream. A system for applying the method comprises a set top box, a communication interface(IEEE1394), and a streamer. The set top box receives a transport stream with a plurality of broadcast program coded by a system encoder multiplexed from a broadcasting station, and reversely multiplexes the transport stream.
