PURPOSE: A valve seat and a method of manufacturing the valve seat are provided to achieve an improved durability for an internal combustion engine by improving lubricating ability and wear resistance. CONSTITUTION: A valve seat is consisted of 0.5 to 1.5 weight % of C, 1.0 to 3.0 weight % of Ni, 3.0 to 6.0 weight % of Co, 3.5 to 6.0 weight % of Cr, 3.5 to 7.5 weight % of Mo, 0.5 to 2.5 weight % W, 0.8 to 2.0 weight % of Ca, and the remaining part consisting of Fe and unavoidable impurities. A method comprises the steps of mixing the above-mentioned material, sintering the mixture, cooling the sintered material, heating and forging the cooled material, re-sintering the forged material, and processing the re-sintered material to a valve seat.
