PURPOSE: A secondary lithium battery and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve the safety of a battery by using a case and a cap formed with a high molecular resin. CONSTITUTION: A secondary lithium battery and a method for manufacturing the same comprise an electrode assembly, a case(27), a cover member, and a cap assembly. The electrode assembly is formed with a positive pole plate(19), a negative pole plate(18), a positive pole tap(34), and a negative pole tap(38). The case receives the electrode assembly and it is formed with a high molecular resin. The cover member is installed an upper end portion of the case. The cap assembly comprises a cap(31d) formed with a high molecular resin for closing an entrance of case.
