A cleaning apparatus preferably for dental tools comprises a pipe member (4) releasably attachable to a fluid flow means (3) such as the hose of a dental aspirator. A barrel member (20) is provided having means (6) for causing the barrel member to rotate in a fluid flow through the pipe member the barrel being provided with internal cleaning means (9) such as bristles arranged to contact a dental tool (2) placed within the barrel member. In use a fluid flow through the pipe member causes the barrel to rotate inside the pipe and a tool placed in the barrel is then cleaned by the rotation of the bristles around the tool.
