PURPOSE: A method for automatically converting modes of a cellular phone is provided to automatically convert a sound mode of the cellular phone into a vibration mode by a base station, so as to prevent a bell sound of the cellular phone from being generated in public areas. CONSTITUTION: A base station transmits a signal presenting a bell sound limiting area to a cellular phone. The base station is in the bell sound limiting area. If the cellular phone receives the signal from the base station in a bell sound prohibiting area, a reception notifying mode of the cellular phone is automatically converted into a vibration mode.
