A toner for developing an electrostatic charge image which is in a substantially spherical form, has a residual polymerizable monomer content less than 70 ppm and exhibits a fluidity of 55 % or more; and a method for producing a toner having a reduced content of a residual polymerizable monomer which comprises subjecting a slurry containing polymer particles obtained by polymerization to a stripping treatment under a reduced pressure.
