PURPOSE: A composition containing Ecklonia cava extract is provided, which removes bad smell of mouth like as volatile compound containing sulfur, and prevents dental caries by antibiotic activity to a germ of tooth decay(e.g., Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus sobrinus). CONSTITUTION: A process for the preparation of Ecklonia cava extract comprises of: drying the Ecklonia cava herb by sun-light or hot wind, and pulverizing; adding 10-20times of a solvent for extracting(e.g., a solvent with polarity of more than 4.4 like as ethyl acetate, acetone, methanol, ethanol) to the pulverized product, and extracting at room temperature or 100-121°C for 10minutes-48hrs; centrifuging at 3,000rpm for 30minutes, or filtering with filter sheath; eliminating the solvent in the residual solution; and concentrating the extract using an evaporator. The composition for removing bad smell and prevention of dental caries contains 0.1-10wt.% of Ecklonia cava extract based on the total weight of composition.
