A dispenser for dispensing flexible media such as cut sheets 1, from a stack has a rotatable separating member 11 which engages and reverse buckles one end of the top sheet 2 so that that end is lifted away from the stack and positioned between transport rollers 9, 10. The transport rollers 9, 10 are driven independently from the separating member 11 so that multiple sheets may be separated from the stack before being transported. The separating member 11 may be a cam or an electrostatic or tacky friction surface. The center of the top sheet 2 is held against the stack by a holding member 3 so that the top sheet buckles only over part of its length. In an alternative embodiment, (Figs 4, 4E), a flexible membrane (13) is attached to a rotatable holding member (15), and flexible membranes (14) are attached to a pair of holding membranes (16). The holding members move to and fro over the stack, wrapping and unwrapping the membranes as they do so, and causing sheets (2) to be separated in association with a rotatable separating member (18) on a pivotable bracket (19). |
