PURPOSE: A fatty acid denatured rosin-system sizing agent is provided to use for a neutral paper-making process having an excellent sizing effect. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of a fatty acid denatured rosin-system sizing agent comprises the steps of: i) obtaining reinforced rosin by reacting with α,β -unsaturated carboxylic acid; ii) partial esterification of the reinforced rosin with polyvalent alcohol; iii) denaturization of the esterified reinforced rosin to the fatty acid; and iv) dehydration of the fatty acid denatured reinforced rosin between molecules with acetic acid anhydride. One of the α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid is selected from among maleic anhydride, maleic acid, fumaric acid, itaconic anhydride, itaconic acid, citraconic anhydride, citraconic acid, acrylic acid or methacrylic acid. Glycerin is the most desirable polyvalent alcohol but trimethyloethane, trimethylopropane, diglycrin, pentaerythritol, sorbitol or pyrogallol may be used as a polyvalent alcohol. Examples of fatty acids are stearic acid, oleic acid or palmitic acid. The manufactured denatured rosin-system sizing agent is used for a paper-making process in a solution or an emulsion state with a fixing agent like sulfuric aluminium oxide, polyallylamine, etc.
