PURPOSE: An air bag module for a vehicle is provided to promote safety of passengers by selectively deploying an air bag depending on a distance between a vehicle and the road surface as the vehicle falls down to the ground. CONSTITUTION: Plural height sensors(11,12,13,14) detect difference in height between a vehicle(10) and the road surface continuously. A microcomputer operates the finish time of vehicle falling by comparing the current speed with reference value in a data ROM(read only memory). The microcomputer transmits deployment signals with a time interval to both inflators(23,24) of each air bag unit(21,22). An explosive and an ignition agent in each inflator(23,24) are ignited sequentially to burn a gas forming agent. Nitrogen gas flows into the air bags through a diffuser screen to deploy the air bags.
