PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for searching the cells of the CDMA mobile communication system are provided to shorten cell searching time by simplifying cell searching steps. CONSTITUTION: A base station division code is inserted into a cycle of 257 chips to 512 chips as a cycle, which is following a base station group division code, every slot which is configuring a frame. As base station division codes are identically detected every slot configuring the frame, an identical correlation value is outputted. The correlation values outputted in an FHT(Fast Hadamard Transform) terminal every slot are accumulated in a base station division code correlation value accumulation unit. If a frame period passes by in this manner, correlation values for 16 base station division codes are accumulated in the base station division code correlation value accumulation unit. After detecting the maximum correlation value from the accumulated correlation values, a maximum correlation detection unit does a synchronization code corresponding to the maximum correlation value as the base station division code. |
