PURPOSE: An ancillary braking system in a vehicle is provided to increase air resistance and to reduce a braking distance by opening a roof panel when a vehicle suddenly brakes. CONSTITUTION: An ancillary braking system in a vehicle comprises: a sensing device(12) to sense a sudden braking; an ECU(14) to judge the condition of the sudden braking by signals of the sensing device; an actuator(16) to be operated according to outputs of the ECU; a releasing device of combination to release combination of one end of a roof cap(24) and a roof(22) by operating the actuator; a raising device(38) to raise the one end of the roof cap separated from the roof; an absorbing device(39) to stop movement of the roof cap, absorbing a shock of the roof cap which is rotated in centering a hinge axis(26).
