PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of a flat panel display is provided to maintain the aligned state of spacers by placing the spacers between a face plate and a back plate with a reinforced supporting state. CONSTITUTION: A mask having holes with a pattern is arranged on a substrate(3b) for a flat panel display being composed of a photosensitive material. The substrate(3b) is exposed through the holes in the mask. The substrate(3b) is inputted into a furnace maintaining a temperature of 500°C and another furnace maintaining a temperature of 600°C for heat treatment. The preferable heat treatment time is 1 hour. An excessive etching proof material is coated on one side of the substrate(3b). The substrate is etched. The excessive etching proof material is removed from the substrate to prepare a plurality of spacer inserting grooves(3d) in one side of the substrate(3b). Spacers(5) are inserted into the grooves(3d), and the spacers(5) and the grooves(3d) are fixed.
