PURPOSE: A shifting control method is provided to minimize shift quality when shifting from fourth stage to third stage after third to fourth changing. CONSTITUTION: During third to fourth changing, a TCU(transmission control unit)(20) decides the state of an over drive switch(50). If the over driver switch is in off state and the off start point after starting shifting is within 0.3sec, the completion of third stage shifting is decided. Descent duty control is performed after duty control for predetermined time, thus 4 to 3 changing is finished. If the over drive switch is not in off state, normal 3 to 4changing is performed. After 0.3sec from the start of shifting, 4 to 3 changing is performed after the finish of 3 to 4 shifting.
