PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently set a data recording rate and a data transmission rate to a device that has provision for a plurality of data recording rates and a plurality of data transmission rates. SOLUTION: In the case of outputting a reproduction signal reproduced from a recording medium 4 via an IEEE1394 interface 1, the IEEE1394 interface 1 sets a data transmission band on the basis of recording mode information obtained from the recording medium 4.
