PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for proportionally amplifying a nucleic acid while keeping a relative amount of a nucleic acid species by preparing fragments of a single-stranded DNA population, preparing double-stranded DNA from the fragments, followed by preparing copies of sense RNA from the DNA. SOLUTION: This is method for proportionally amplifying a nucleic acid while easily keeping a relative amount among individual nucleic acid species present in the original sample by preparing fragments of a single-stranded DNA population from a nucleic acid population selected from the group comprising one or more genomic DNA(s), cDNA(s), total RNA(s), poly(A)+RNA(s) and oligonucleotide(s), synthesizing double-stranded DNA from fragments of the single-stranded DNA population fragments, preparing copies of sense RNA from the double-stranded DNA, followed by producing fragments of copies of the sense RNA by containing with a solid support containing a nucleic acid probe.
