PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating method of a cylinder inner face which can be processed by a simple facility, is easy to control/operate its processing, and has large jointing strength and a coating layer of high strength. SOLUTION: In this coating method, when a coating material 18 composed of same kind or different kind material of a structure body 10 is coated on a cylinder inner face 20 of the structure body 10, the coating material 18 and a pressurizing rod 16 whose outside diameter is smaller than a cylinder hole 12 are inserted in the cylinder hole 12. Further, the pressurizing rod 16 is brought into contact with the coating material 18 under pressure and is rotated relatively against the structural body 10. Then, the coating material 18 is softened by friction heating and plastic flown along the space between the pressurizing rod 16 and the cylinder inner face 20, so as to form a coating layer 22 on the cylinder inner face 20.
