<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an appropriate amount of quantized image data of in accordance with image data to be quantized by adding a macroblock address as a header which is variable length encoded by the macroblocks to variable- length encoded image data and making the data encoded image data. SOLUTION: In an encoder 21A, an input video signal VDIN is transmitted to a pixel data processing system SYM1 as input image data S21 consisting of pixel data of a macroblock at an input circuit part 22 and an A/D 23, and processing information data corresponding to the pixel data are successively transmitted in a header data processing system SYM2 in a timing in which each processing step of the pixel data processing system SYM1 processes the pixel data per macroblock. In a variable-length encoding circuit 38, header data HD5 from the header data processing system SYM2 and quantized image data S39 from the image data processing system SYM1 are variable length processed, transmission image data S40 are formed and are supplied to a transmission buffer memory 32.</p> |
