摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make formable a flat panel liquid crystal display while alignment posts which support a glass cover plate are in a matched state in optical interference layers by forming the posts between mirror pixels of a min. display by photolithography. SOLUTION: A glass cover plate 10 reflects externally incident light to provide a transparent packaging material to return to an observer. The intensity of the reflected light is determined by the polarization, absorption and scattering characteristics for light in each liquid crystal display pixel and these characteristics are controlled by an electric field generated in a liquid crystal material 11. IC chips 12 separated from the glass plate by the alignment posts 14 generate the above-mentioned electric field. The space formed between the glass plate and a silicon wafer is filled with a selected liquid crystal material. The light supplied or ambient light enters the open face of the liquid crystal on the silicon and is reflected by the pixel disposed beneath to form a visible pattern of polarized light. Namely, the image is directly observed or projected through a polarization system.
