PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten efficiency of a coating operation when a coating agent is applied to an inner face of a mold having a movable side wall mold, and heighten adhesion of the coating agent on the mold inner face, or heighten production efficiency of an entire casting process in the case where the coating operation of the coating agent and the assembling operation of a core are required. SOLUTION: In this applying method, a capacity part is formed which is closed by upper/lower molds DU/DL and plural side wall molds DS, and when a casting is obtained by injecting/filling molten metal in the capacity part, a coating agent is applied on inner faces of the upper mold and each side wall mold. In this case, the plural side wall molds DS are supported by the upper mold DU, and each side wall mold is slidably arranged in a horizontal direction. All the side wall molds are set under a closing condition, and then the coating agent is applied on the inner faces of the side wall molds and the upper mold.
