A safety door prevents user injuries when part of the user's body, such as the fingers, gets caught between the door and its frame. The safety door includes a main body (10) having at least one vertical edge; a mounting surface (16), formed lengthwise on the at least one vertical edge, having a plurality of open-sided mounting holes (14); an elastic member (40), fitted to the mounting surface (16), having a pair of side panels (40a) straddling the at least one vertical edge and a plurality of first holes (42) formed in each side panel corresponding to the open-sided mounting holes (14) of the mounting surface (16); a pair of reinforcing panels (50a) placed on either side of the fitted elastic member (40), each having a plurality of second holes (52) corresponding to the open-sided mounting holes (14); and a coupling device for securing the reinforcing panels (50a) and the elastic member (40) to the mounting surface (16). |
