PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter which can reduce the rated power consumption of the discharge resistor for a filter capacitor, improve conversion efficiency and reduce the size. SOLUTION: A forward conversion circuit 11 which rectifies AC power into DC power and filters the DC power with a filter capacitor 3, a reverse conversion circuit 4 which consists of a plurality of switching devices TP1-TP3 and TN1-TN3 and turns on/off the DC power rectified and filtered by the forward conversion circuit 11 with a predetermined frequency to convert the DC power into an AC power with the predetermined frequency, a resistor 5a connected between one of the terminals of the filter capacitor 3 and the output terminal of the reverse conversion circuit 4, and a discharge circuit 7 which turns on one (TN1) of the switching devices TP1-TP3 and TN1-TN3 in order to discharge the filter capacitor 3, are provided. |
