PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical rotor of an electric rotating machine, wherein the maximum temperature produced at the ends of saddle-shaped coils contained in rotor winding is reduced. SOLUTION: A cylindrical rotor 1 of an electric rotating machine uses a peripheral insulating layer 2, having connecting paths (U-shaped grooves) 21 formed in proximity to the center of magnetic poles and a spacer 3 provided with a base portion 31, having branched paths (U-shaped grooves) 32 formed in proximity to the center of the magnetic poles. The U-shaped grooves 21 are formed on the inner circumferential face of the peripheral insulating layer 2, from the ends of a coolant gas flows 99C on the flow-in side along the length of the axis of a rotor core 82A so that the grooves can communicate with flow paths 54Y to the two saddle-shaped coils 52, which are positioned outside, of the six saddle-shaped coils 52 contained in a rotor winding 5A. The U-shaped grooves 32 are formed on the face of the base portion 31 on the opposite side to the flow paths 54Y, so that the grooves extends radially with the axis X-X at the center and can communicate with the U-shaped grooves 21.
