PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating film forming method capable of stably forming a coating film having no problem in the physical properties, excellent in grinding mark concealability and having continuous plating like appearance and a paint compsn. adapted thereto. SOLUTION: In a coating film forming method and a paint compsn., first metallic paint containing non-leafing type aluminum flakes with a thickness of 0.1-1μm is applied to an object to be coated and second metallic paint containing fine metal foil pieces with a thickness of 0.08μm or less and a mean particle size of 5-40μm is subsequently applied to the first metallic paint coating layer.
